Imagine that you and a group of friends or colleagues are locked in a small, sparsely decorated room with no windows. A timer reading “60:00†sits above a large armoire, whose drawers and cabinets are padlocked shut. Seemingly random books sit scattered on tables and a bookshelf in one corner of the room, while a red desk whose drawers are also padlocked shut stands in the other corner. The drearily painted beige walls are sparsely decorated with more seemingly random paintings and drawings. As you settle in and take in your new surroundings, the door closes shut and the timer starts. You and your team now have 60 minutes to escape using the room and its hidden clues, mysteries and riddles. Can YOU escape The Clue Room?
Last month the Global staff visited the Clue Room in Centennial, Colorado for an afternoon of team-building, and faced the daunting challenge of escaping the Clue Room in sixty minutes or less. Upon arriving the staff split into our two assigned teams; Clue Investigation Army (CIA) which was made up of staff members Brandy Lewis, Amanda Jamrogiewicz, Laura Gilsdorf, John McCormick and Kelly Enders, and Col. Mustard’s Brigade, which included Stephen Lewis, Amanda Glazar, Seth Fritts and Andrea Funk. Each team was sent into a different “Clue Roomâ€, and each included its own unique challenges, riddles, and hidden puzzles to solve in order to escape. After the doors closed and a few instructions were given to each team, the timer started and the race to escape was on!
At the end of the sixty minutes as the timer expired, the doors to one room opened and one team emerged victorious. Col. Mustard’s Brigade was able to escape their Clue Room with less than a minute remaining on the timer, making them the winners for the day. CIA was unable to escape in time, although they had one more item to solve and were less than thirty seconds away from escaping before time expired.
The Clue Room was a unique teambuilding experience that emphasizes creativity, strategy, and logical thinking, as well as being able to think outside the box to solve problems. Check out pictures from the day below, and we encourage you to visit the Clue Room if you would like to learn more.
